About me

I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist specialised in working with children and young people (MA Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy for Children, Adolescents and Families from the University of Roehampton). I have over two decades experience working with children, young people and adults in education, mental health and community settings.

Before training as a therapist I worked as an applied theatre practitioner with a diverse range of groups, including looked after children, mental health service users, homeless, refugees and asylum seekers, survivors of trafficking, undocumented, LGBT+ community. I have extensive experience supporting groups creatively and therapeutically with theatre and other expressive arts techniques.

What I love about counselling and psychotherapy is having one-to-one time with clients and really getting to know them. I am passionate about understanding what makes therapy a good experience for children and young people and what leads to good outcomes and am currently engaging in research related to this topic.

I am fully insured and a registered member of BACP (MBACP xxx), committed to upholding their rigorous ethical standards.

About therapy

As an integrative therapist I tailor sessions for each individual, drawing on a range of approaches. I am informed by attachment, humanistic, psychodynamic, and systemic theories, as well as an understanding of neurobiological processes, and child and adolescent development.  Not being limited by one theoretical viewpoint allows me to work with clients in a non-judgemental, collaborative and creative way.  I bring a non-judgmental attitude, creativity and warmth to all of my work.  I believe building an open and trusting relationship is key to successful therapy at any age, but especially with children and young people, and there is much research to support this view.
